Infirmary
At AGS, we love to see children energetic, healthy and thriving at school, and we work zealously to keep it that way. AGS is committed to the health and safety of students entrusted to us. The premises are designed to minimise all kinds of hazards. Our staff are always observant and immediately take notice if any child is unwell or in pain. AGS has a well-maintained infirmary with 4 beds. An in-house certified nurse is always available. All our staff members are trained to administer basic first aid. Any case that requires medical attention is handled swiftly and sensitively by trained professionals. The parents will be informed immediately, with complete details, in case their child needs medical attention. In more serious medical emergencies, trained staff accompanies the child to the hospital for the required check-ups and treatment. The parents will be called in and treatment will be administered under their approval
Laboratory
“I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand” – Chinese proverb There is no better fun than a hands-on experience with science! Watching your chemical concoction change colour or getting an electrical circuit to work can feel magical. We at AGS want students to move beyond book learning & understand the essential concepts of physics, chemistry, and biology through experimentation. They are encouraged to test the validity of theories for themselves. They are taught to formulate, prove, and disprove hypotheses by methodically conducting experiments, making observations, analysing and reporting results in an unbiased fashion. Lab classes are conducted every week on a regular basis. Separate science labs for physics, chemistry and biology are maintained. Our labs have all the necessary equipment, manuals and charts for conducting high school experiments and they meet the IB/CIE guidelines. Our competent and dedicated faculty and lab assistant supervise all lab activities. Students are given clear instructions at the start of every lab session so that experiments are conducted smoothly & safety guidelines are followed. Appropriate precautions are taken to minimise accidents. First Aid kits are available in all the labs. Physics labs are provided with magnets, voltmeters, ammeters, magnifying lenses, screw gauge, slide calipers etc. Experiments are conducted to understand measurement, electricity, optics and magnetism. The biology lab is equipped with necessary glassware, stopwatches, and equipment such as microscopes, magnifying lenses, sample slides of various tissues and organisms and a water bath for the study of living things. Models of digestive system, skeletal system and specimens of organisms are available for students to get a clear view of the anatomy of living things. The Chemistry lab is equipped with all the necessary apparatus such as essential chemicals and glassware, weighing balances, Bunsen burners, crucibles, and safe gas connections to carry out titrations, energy transfer reactions, analysis of salts etc. It is equipped with an exhaust fan to remove harmful gases. Eye shower, fire extinguisher, lab coats, gloves and safety glasses are available in the lab. Safety procedures are followed during experimentation.
Teacher’s training
Teachers are offered continuous professional development opportunities in the form of workshops, and certifications. These are frequently sponsored by the school. Our Teacher Training Foundation equips them with practical skills that will translate into improvements in the classroom. We believe in helping teachers learn and grow continuously too.
Our training sessions not only help in improving subject competencies but also touch upon the crucial aspects of teaching like fundamental school processes, approaches to help different kinds of students, learning tools and platforms, good classroom practices, preventing teacher burnout, and so on. The Centre for School Success year-long course offers continuous guidance throughout a year to help incorporate new methods of teaching.
AGS takes up teacher development courses for teachers every year to incorporate new methods of teaching learning process. Centre for School Success is one of the programmes. We send our teachers for this yearlong course which involves continuous guidance throughout the year.
