Foundational years programme

The AYESHA Global School ICSE Foundational Years program focuses on providing a stimulating environment and curriculum for the holistic and healthy development of children. The Foundational Year comprises three years of pre-primary (Pre.KG, Jnr.KG, and Snr.KG) at AGS TOTS and two years of primary (Class I and II).

Our Foundational Years curriculum is a happy blend of various Early Years Educational philosophies based on the NEP 2020’s proposal to provide the children with a child-centered curriculum that prepares them for the rigor of the Preparatory Stage (Class III, IV, and V).

The curriculum for the first three years of learning in pre-primary at TOTS (Pre.KG, Jnr.KG, and Snr.KG) is an eclectic mix of:

  • Multiple Intelligence Theory by Howard Gardener
  • Play Way and Kindergarten Method by Friedrich Fröbel
  • Montessori by Maria Montessori
  • Reggio Emilia by Lorris Malaguzzi

At Ayesha Global School, we believe that all children can learn in a nurturing, supportive, and child-centric environment. Our principles emulate the vision and mission on which Ayesha Global School stands:

  • Create a community of life-long learners.
  • Allow for individual differences and creativity in meeting academic needs.
  • Realize the implications technology will have on children’s lives.
  • Encourage each child to take responsibility for his or her own learning.
  • Support creative, critical thinking for students, staff, and the community.

Early childhood methodologies in pre-primary (AGS TOTS)

(Pre.KG, Jnr.KG, and Snr.KG)

The first three years of the foundational years are offered through AGS TOTS, a premier pre-school program. Immersing in our award-winning curriculum has the following benefits:

  • Provides a strong foundation and builds a wholesome personality.
  • “Embraces every child” through a well-researched, balanced, multifaceted curriculum.
  • Ensures the holistic development of every child by compassionately nurturing their personal, physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Promotes development in language, literacy, logical reasoning, and creativity skills through a hands-on learning approach.
  • Builds real-world connections through field trips, guest visits, exhibitions, simulations, and mock set-ups.
  • Small group learning for individual attention.
  • Prepares children for a seamless transition into the latter two years of the foundational years (Class I and II).

The VARK learning style model

VARK stands for visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinaesthetic. Each of these is a different learning model. Students experience learning through one or more of these modes. Those with an auditory bias tend to learn through audio, Those with a visual preference will learn better through static or moving visuals, Kinaesthetic learners learn by doing and experiencing. Readers and writers prefers the written word as the primary means of learning.

The VARK model also describes two kinds of learners:

Type 1 learners: Those who can switch between learning styles as required

Type 2 learners: Those who have a primary mode of learning

Project based learning

AGS-ICSE curriculum implementation incorporates project-based learning (PBL). PBL allows students to experience and learn real-world concepts by engaging in a variety of projects. PBL can be investigative, problem-based, or creative.
